Basic applications of CNC machining
CNC machining plays a very high role in CNC equipment. Many parts processing companies use CNC machining centers, and Aria is no exception. Although CNC machining is widely used, do you know what types of parts it can process? Today we will talk about CNC technology and what parts can be processed.
As we all know, CNC machining manufacturers are suitable for complex processing, multiple processes, and high requirements. They need to use a variety of ordinary machine tools and numerous tool fixtures, and undergo multiple clamping and adjustments to complete the processing of parts. Its processing objects mainly include five categories: box parts, complex curved surface parts, special-shaped parts, plate-on-plate parts and special processing.
1.box parts
Box parts generally refer to parts with more than one hole system, internal cavity, and a certain proportion in the length, width, and height directions. Box parts generally require multi-station hole making and surface processing, and the tolerance requirements are higher, especially the shape tolerance requirements are stricter. The machining center processes box parts. When there are many processing stations and the worktable needs to be rotated multiple times to complete the part processing, a horizontal boring and milling machining center is generally selected. When there are few processing stations and the span is not large, a vertical machining center can be used to process from one end.
2.complex surface
Complex surfaces play a very important role in mechanical manufacturing, especially in the aerospace industry. It is difficult or even impossible for ordinary machinery to process complex surfaces. The traditional method in our country is precision casting, as you can imagine. Complex curved surface parts such as: various impellers, wind deflectors, spheres, various curved surface forming molds, underwater vehicle propellers and propellers, and some other shapes of free-form surfaces.
Typical ones are as follows:
1.Cams and cam mechanisms, as basic components for mechanical information storage and transmission, are widely used in various automated machinery. Such parts can use the CAM of a three-axis, four-axis linkage or five-axis linkage machining center according to the complexity of the processing.
2.Integral impellers are commonly found in aircraft engine compressors, oxygen equipment expanders, single-screw air compressors, etc. This type of profile can be completed using multiple four-axis linkage machining centers.
3.Injection molds, rubber molds, vacuum plastic molds, refrigerator foam molds, die-casting molds, precision casting molds and other molds.
4.The spherical surface can be milled on a machining center. Three-axis milling can only be approximated with a ball-end milling cutter, which is less efficient. Five-axis milling can be approximated as an envelope surface using an end mill. When using a machining center to process complex curved surfaces, the programming workload is relatively large. Most of these require automated programming techniques.
3.Special-shaped parts
Special-shaped parts refer to irregularly shaped parts. Most of them require multi-station mixed processing of points, lines and surfaces. The rigidity of special-shaped parts is generally poor, the clamping deformation is difficult to control, and the machining accuracy is difficult to guarantee. Even some machined parts are difficult to complete with ordinary machine tools. When processing with a machining center, reasonable process measures should be taken, clamping once or twice, and utilizing the characteristics of the machining center’s multi-station point, line, and surface mixed processing to complete multiple processes or all process contents.
4.Plates, sleeves and plate parts
After mastering the functions of the machining center, and using certain tooling and special tools, the machining center can be used to complete some special craft work, such as engraving, engraving lines, and patterns on metal surfaces. A high-frequency EDM power supply is installed on the spindle of the machining center, which can harden the metal surface through line scanning. By installing a high-speed grinding head on the machining center, grinding of small-module involute bevel gears and various curved surfaces can be achieved.
It is not difficult to see from the above introduction that CNC machining centers have a wide range of applications and there are many types of workpiece processing. Therefore, many companies need to use CNC machining centers to process precision parts, molds, etc. Of course, the use of this equipment The price is higher and more maintenance is required during use.
